We at Indie 2 Industry have taken notice to a new and upcoming producer. He made a great impact online on a website called Rocbattle.com with a very impressive battle record of 233-9 and even beating Rockwilder himself… Now that he’s popping up everywhere online, he’s giving a few minutes of his time to have an interview with us and to give us a little insight on what’s really going on..

Cyrus Phantasm: What’s up Youngfyre?

Youngfyre: not much man, grinding and working to further my career as best I can. Enjoying life, it’s good right now.

Cyrus Phantasm: I see…. You’re on PMP worldwide, among other websites and we have gotten word about your recent placements on Tech N9ne’s album “Killer”… How did you accomplish that?

Youngfyre: Well, PMP Worldwide is a great site, and I recommend to any up and coming producer who is serious about his/her craft. It’s really a great networking tool. As far as tech n9ne, I originally got up with him through a Swedish fella I know by the name of chubby. Shouts to chubby. He wanted me to be a part of his large money thing; we agreed all by mouth no contracts. He gave me the shot; I took it from there and ran with it. Tech picked his first beat from me in 06. It was the joint with shawnna; it was also the first beat he picked for his album. He then went on to pick 4 more 1 of which is a single “like yeah” which is blowing up like crazy. We shot the vid in Cali and I’ve been getting great responses thus far.

Cyrus Phantasm: I saw the video myself and I must say, it’s VERY RARE that a producer gets featured on a music video, especially when he’s new to the game… With those tracks (you produced) seemingly overshadowing other tracks on the album (no disrespect to the other producers on the album) will there be a future with Youngfyre and Tech N9ne??

Youngfyre: Oh yes there will!! So far I have 8 tracks that will be on his next album, sickology 101, due out of Feb. of next year. All tracks are craaaaazzzzyyyy!! He has a great ear for picking tracks. Also I have 6 joints with kutt kalhoun that’s out right now. I also have the single for him “bink rock bitch” which is a rock song I produced with a hip hop edge. That album is incredible!! Seriously everyone should own it. Also I’ll actually be going in to the studio to work with krizz kaliko on his sophomore release in December. We’re gonna go in on that joint! I’ll try and get something on every release strange come out with.

Cyrus Phantasm
: Phenomenal!! That’s a lot of work and a lot to keep up with in such a short period of time.. I remember when Strange Muzik first started and the initial outlet was MySpace, in which the label generated an incredible fan base. Was MySpace effective in getting your career off the ground or did you take other methods also?? (Excluding Chubby)

Youngfyre: as for me, it hasn’t been a big tool, but mainly due to me not spending as much time on it as others. But it is definitely a great tool and I do use it from time to time to reach out to folks. But really everything I’ve accomplished up to now has been of my own doing. I’m extremely driven, I eat sleep and sh*# this music man. No mangers as of yet have accomplished anything I’ve done. I believe YOU are your own best manager. No manager will care for YOUR music or see YOUR vision the way YOU will.

Cyrus Phantasm: I would tend to disagree with that but with your accomplishments thus far, would prove me wrong… And with that being said, are there any other artists you plan on working with in the future?? And do you have anything else in the works other than what you have with Strange Muzik artists??

Youngfyre: Well in response to you disagreance, of course at some point you will need a manager, but when starting out no need to give another man 20% of what is rightfully yours when u can get it all yourself. Granted some producer may be a bit reclusive so maybe it’s better for them to do so earlier on. So I guess it can work both ways. I do plan on working with a lot of other artist. Right now just landed a record with a west coast artist jay rock, also am going to work on young buck’s album in a couple weeks in Atl. I’m also involved with a girl group Conrad Dimanche is putting me on. Let’s see, o yea got the Muggsy Malone track, due out next April. I’m sure there are things I’m forgetting, but yea I have toooons of things on deck. Its jus the waiting game from here

Cyrus Phantasm: I see… Now there’s another artists that I’ve heard that you have done work with who’s also new to the game named “Jetty Da Rider”. The few tracks I’ve heard from you two so far have been mind blowing. How did you two get together to collab on the tracks you’ve done so far?? And Who’s Jetty Da Rider??

Youngfyre: man o man he is the future period!! I got up with him through Rocbattle. We exchanged aim’s and have built a good relationship. No BS in his blood. Fast and hard worker. Got a good image positive attitude, and bars for days. Extremely talented. Dude is craaaazy!!!Look out for him!

Cyrus Phantasm: I guess I have to catch up with him and interview him next huh? lol. I see that the internet has been very good for you as a networking tool. Now, Most wouldn’t bring this up but I know there had to be a lot of negativity while perusing your goals. Reason I say that is because for some reason people feel since they’re at home behind their computers that they can speak reckless on networking sites and feel untouchable.. Has this kind of negativity affected you in any way??? (No need to mention names)

Youngfyre: Of course there have been many incidents. Especially in the hip hop community. There’s always a crab in the bucket mentality with it. But I’m a strong person. Not much in real life can affect me, let alone the net. It’s all virtual beef lol. No way could I take it serious. I’m a strong believer in what goes around comes around though. So I jus let things work themselves out.

Cyrus Phantasm: That was very positive… Lots of people would have taken that opportunity to “take shot’s” at people. I guess that’s why things seem to be working out in your favor. Do you have any advice for other producers who are trying to be heard for the first time?

Youngfyre: Man the best advice I can give is to do you and grind hard. You have to think there are a million people out here that are going for the same spot. So treat it like that. Work every day to the best of your abilities at becoming better. I mean I literally live in my studio. I don’t party, no smoking, no drinking (both of which I’ve never done9), jus straight focusing man. Never let anything side track you from your true goals. Most importantly though, make sure you truly have the talent and drive for this industry. It’s a cut throat industry. Lots of scheming, plotting, double crossing and all that. Not to mention the tough critics, peer hate, and your day to day life. It gets crazy, and only a select few are built for this. You should take a step back and analyze where u are, and if you can truly see yourself doing this for the rest of your life.

Cyrus Phantasm: I think a lot of people will appreciate the input.. So can we hang out? I got playstation, I got cable. LOL, I’m just kidding with you. But is there anything else you would like to mention before we conclude this interview?

Youngfyre: lmao. Yea u know when I’m in buffalo I’m gone have to kick ya ass in some cod 4lol. O yea, I have a production team I’m building, kasai llc., its gonna be a strong but small group, right now I’ve only signed one member karbon, 16 year old phenom out of Baltimore, crazy kid. I’m looking for a strong R&B pianist, excellent drummer, and guitar player. One of the most important things for me though is chemistry. Have to be able to work with them. They can be the hottest pianist but if they ain’t down for the team or are stubborn etc. I can’t do it. Also got to be hard working and available. It’s gonna be a movement my dude. I jus want to give my shout outs!! chubby, tech , krizz, kutt, young buck, fabe, jetty, breeze, jokey, yung lo, rns, karbon, yung focus, cyrus phantasm and all of i2i
And the rest of ya’ll I forgot much love to you too!!

Cyrus Phantasm: Well Youngfyre. I thank you for your time today, for I know your schedule is very busy. And I will be looking forward to kicking your a*s in some PS3 in ‘09. LOL. I wish you much success.

Youngfyre: lol, aight thanx man take care, be sure to check me out at www.pmpworldwide.com/youngfyre www.youngfyre.com will be up again shortly as well.
